Fisher Family Florida Vacation...Day 3

We are at Fort Walton Beach, Florida and it is beautiful here. Our condo is perfect for our family! We made a trip to the grocery store last night and got lots of yummy snacks and food to get us through the week!

After breakfast we headed to the beach. This was Colton's first time out since we arrived yesterday. He is feeling much better. The antibiotic kicked in and he is getting back to himself. We played in the sand, "rode" waves in the ocean and played in the pool. It was a fun morning!

Today is July 4th! After our morning at the beach and pool we headed in for lunch and a much needed nap. I decided not to bring Colton back out in the afternoon...he's still not 100% and I knew our evening would include fireworks and a late bedtime. One more afternoon of rest was in order! My fabulous in-laws stayed in and relaxed while the kiddos napped and we took advantage of an afternoon by the beach! Awesome!

We decided to cook dinner at the condo tonight. There is a big firework show that we can see from the parking garage at our condo so we celebrated there. After dinner the guys took our chairs out to the parking garage and got us set up for the show. We saw many random fireworks from afar but the long awaited firework show was nowhere to be seen. The girls and kiddos gave up and went back in our condo. I was giving Colton a bath and heard pops and booms coming from outside. Everyone ran out to see...finally the much anticipated show. I grabbed Colton out of the bathtub, wrapped him in a towel and we went out and joined them. The show was great and we had great seats! I wish I would have gotten a picture of him in his towel but the cameras were inside the condo!

Happy 4th of July

Fisher Florida Vacation Day 1 and 2

(sorry for the lack of pics in this post...read on and you will understand!)

We were packed and ready and on the road by 8:30 Saturday morning...I call that a success! 4 adults...2 kiddos and a lot of stuff! We were packed in the car but happy to be on the road and headed to the sunny beaches of Florida.

Unfortunately I had a sick little boy...we went to the doctor on Friday and got an antibiotic...thank you Lord. He started running fever at 4:00 Saturday morning so I was praying hard that our trip would not be a disaster! He was a trooper! He didn't sleep much in the car which is rare for him but he did the best he could under the circumstances!

We made a stop in Shreveport for lunch and a little leg stretching. My parents met us to eat and it was great seeing them. It was time for  medicine for Little Man and he was not a fan! Think screaming, kicking and spitting! Stressful for mommy but we made it through! Once in the car...he passed out! Poor baby!

We made it to Laurel, Mississippi and our hotel just in time. Colton was exhausted and fever was coming back strong and I was ready to get him out of the car and hold him like he had asked me to many times...so sad to hear "hold me" from your sick little boy in the back seat. :(

His first stay in a hotel was not as exciting as I thought it would be. We snuggled in the bed, took more meds and relaxed while everyone else went to dinner. By bedtime he was feeling better and ready to go to bed. He slept pretty good but I had to wake him for more meds at 12:30 and 6:30 at which point I put him in bed with us. We snuggled until 9:00.

We were back on the road by 10:00 Sunday morning headed to Florida. Things were looking up! We stopped for lunch and leg stretching at Mellow Mushroom...yummy! Colton was a little better but still coughing and running fever! The last 30 minutes on the road were rough...more "hold me" from the back seat! Break.My.Heart! But we made it to the condo in Fort Walton Beach! We were out of the car and not planning on getting back in it for a while! The boys played on Mimi and Pawpaw's bed jumping and laughing while we got settled in our condo.

Colton was asking to get in his "bed" so he took a much needed nap while we ventured out to the beach...thanks Mimi for staying with him! The weather was great, the water was perfect and the sand was beautiful! I sat and relaxed and soaked in the sun for a few minutes before my mommy duties continued.

Day 2 was coming to an end. We were glad to be at our destination and looking forward to a great week on the beach!

Fort Worth Stock Show

The weather was warm last week so we took a little adventure to the Fort Worth Stock Show. Brad and I go every year to the Stock Show and sometimes the rodeo. This year it was fun to take our little boy to experience this tradition. Colton LOVES animals and knows the sounds that a lot of animals make. He knows how to make the sounds of a cow and sheep so we were hoping to see both. We knew that there was a  petting zoo there so that would definitely be a hit!

To our surprise there were very few animals in the show barns. I guess it was transition time between big and small show animals so there were not a lot there like normal.

Colton still had a blast seeing the few that were there. He wanted out of the stroller so he could touch them and love (hug) them and run around. He LOVED the petting zoo. Maybe next year we will try the rodeo...maybe! :)

Christmas 2010

Here's a recap of Christmas 2010...

This was Colton's second Christmas. He was only 2 months old last Christmas. Crazy! Colton came down with croup the week of Christmas. He started taking some steroids and snapped back pretty quick. We were able to enjoy our time with our families but kept Colton at a distance from other kiddos.

We started the celebrating with Christmas Eve at the lake with Brad's mom's side of the family...the Bradfords. We ate yummy Mexican food, opened presents and played the "name game". Colton and I hung out for a while and then headed home for nap time.

Christmas morning we celebrated at home with our little family. We woke Colton up at 8:30 so we could get the day started...we had places to go. :) We brought him downstairs to see what Santa had brought. Colton got a basketball goal, mega blocks in a wagon, bath toys, dump truck and a stocking full of goodies. He saw the basketball and goal and wanted to "play". He didn't look or play with another thing the entire morning. After he figured out how to "shoot" the ball he was set. He didn't open a single present or his stocking. He had some basketball to play. I made "pigs in a blanket" for breakfast so we took a break to eat a quick breakfast before heading to Meme and Pawpaw's house.

We headed to Meme and Pawpaw's house for more Christmas fun. We ate yummy cinnamon rolls and hot coffee...perfect for a chilly morning. We exchanged gifts but Colton was not real interested in opening the presents. We just wanted to walk around and play...and he was missing his morning nap...so we made the best of it.

For lunch we went to the Fisher's house for a yummy Christmas lunch (we ate a lot in 2 days! ha!). All of the Fisher kids were there along with grand kids and great grand kids. It was a house full! Yummy food and great fellowship together with family.

We left early that afternoon for Louisiana. Nana and Pop's house was next on the agenda! We had a 4 hour drive ahead of us and a much needed nap for Colton. We made it to Nana and Pop's that evening. A quick dinner of yummy gumbo and off to open more presents. We let the kids open presents first and Colton actually opened a few of his. We visited with my family and enjoyed being in one place for several days without having to travel or house hop.

One (of many) special gifts that Colton got was a "Little People" nativity set. I can't wait until he understands the true meaning of Christmas. We read the Christmas story from his Bible many times during the holiday season. I pray that he learns of Christ's love for him at a young age.



We were on the go a lot during the holidays but we loved every minute of it. We are blessed with great families that love our little boy to pieces!

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY!

Our Little Man is ONE! How did this happen so fast? This has been the best year. I made a banner for his party that had pictures of each month of his first year...he has changed so much! He is growing and changing into a little boy...I am loving every minute. I never knew being a mommy would be so fun....it is the hardest job I've ever had but by far the most rewarding!

I had to wake him up from his nap so he could go downstairs for his party!

Colton had a "Barnyard Birthday Party". We had a petting zoo with baby goats, chickens, baby pot belly pig, and rabbits. The kids had fun petting and holding the animals in the corral.

Colton loved eating his birthday cake! He dove in face first and loved every bite! He kept eating and eating until Mommy took it away. I think it is safe to say that he has a sweet tooth. :)

Precious friends and family celebrated with us on his special day! I think it is safe to say that he had a fun day! He got soooo many new toys and clothes. This is one loved little boy! He didn't care too much about opening the gifts but he loved looking to see what was inside to play with.



What he is up to at ONE:

*walking a lot...he wants to walk more than crawl but is still very clumsy

*can sign "more", "milk" and "please"

* new words...thank you, buh buh (he says this when he is sleepy...not sure what it means)

*drinking whole milk...two times a day in a bottle with a little formula mixed in...we are working on switching to a sippy cup...pick your battles, right?

*loves crackers (any kind), bread, cheese, bananas (favorite food!), fruit, beans, ham sandwiches, yogurt, sweet potatoes and anything off of mommy and daddy's plate!

*doesn't like meat, most veggies (he will eat baby food with meat and veggies...whatever I can do to get him to eat them), milk in a sippy cup

*will "moo" like a cow when you ask him what a cow says

*loves to dance when he hears music

*learned to throw a ball

*throws Remy's toys for her and claps when she goes and gets them

*loves to read books with mommy and daddy...favorite right now is "Noah's Wild Adventures"

*still sleeps great at night and naps twice a day

*loves being outside...playing with Remy, swinging at the park

*loves to push toys around on the tile...books, trucks, Tupperware...anything he can push

*can open all cabinets and drawers in the house! ugh!

*fascinated with opening and closing doors!

*loves Remy's food and water bowls...gross!

*Remy is his best bud...hugs and kisses her all day!

We love you Colton Reed! This has been a great first year and we look forward to what this next year holds for you! You are a sweet little boy with the best personality.
