Growing Up

I started writing this post FOREVER ago and needed to upload pics to finish it...months later here it is...FIRST BIRTHDAY is next!

Colton is 10 1/2 months old...11 1/2 months old...sorry for the delay! He is getting so big and turning into a little boy right before our eyes. I still try to hold him like a baby and tell him he is my baby but he quickly tries to get down and rush off to play.

Things he is doing...
*learned to hold his bottleat 10 months...rarely gets a bottle so he would not hold it when he did
*drinking out of a sippy cup...water only and not too crazy about it
*becoming a picky eater...doesn't like the way things feel in his mouth and will spit it out...especially veggies
*loves grilled cheese sandwiches and quesdillas
*loves fruit...cantalope, bananas, pears, baked apples with cinnamon
*starting eating some dairy products...he has a sensitivity to dairy for months (I had to cut it out of my diet) but things seem to be much better...loves yogart and cheese
*crawling and cruising all over the house...*update*...starting taking steps...he's very brave and will just let go and keep walking
*standing for several seconds without holding on to something
*loves to stack toys and knock them down, loves blocks and stacking cups, loves to take things out and out things back into any container
*loves to "read" books
*saying "momma", "woof" for dog and loves to squeal...loud!
*giving "high five" and "touch down"
*napping like a champ...2 times a day for an hour or two
*Remy is still his best buddy
*can sign "milk" and "more"

Orange Beach, Alabama 2010

So...after weighing all of our options about going to the beach or not because of the Oil Spill 2010 we decided to make the trip and have fun despite the circumstances. We had a great time together playing in the pool, playing cards/games, going to the water park...without getting ONE picture :( playing in the sand, shopping great outlet malls, and most of all just being together. We will do it again when we can actually enjoy the beach!

In the airplane headed to Alabama...Colton's first flight!

Enjoying the flight.

After a great flight and an hour and a half TAXI ride to Orange Beach...we were on vacation!

The clean-up crew and Coast Guard were stationed right by our condo. Every day the workers worked so diligently to clean the never ending oil mess! So sad! Other than these men and women working the beach  looked like a ghost town.

Loving the sand! I see a sandbox in our future!

After watching the big kids play ROOK he thought he would give it a try.

All the cousins at the beach!

Summer Fun in the Sun

I cannot believe it is already June and today Little Man is 8 months old! He is so much fun! Love him more and more every day!

Some of his favorite things...
*food...bananas
*being outside
*swinging
*playing in his pool
*Remy and her toys *yuck*
*saying dadadada and blowing raspberries
*bath time...splashing and playing with toys
*crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything
*"Brown Bear, Brown Bear" favorite book

We bought him a swing, a  frog float and a swimming pool for the hot summer. He loves them so much. He would stay outside if it wasn't so hot! We will be spending as much time as we can in the pool this summer. We haven't gone to our neighborhood pool yet but we've had fun "swimming" at Cousin Eli's and Mimi and Pawpaw's house. He is shaping up to be a "water baby".

Pool Time!

As of today he has 3 teeth...all within less than a week. He is a teething trooper. His bottom gums were swollen a while before the first tooth popped through last weekend...no other real teething symptoms. Last night he woke up twice during the night so I checked his gums again this morning and I could see another bottom one trying to pop through. Used some baby orajel on it and saw the top one had popped through as well. Wow! He is a tough little guy!

Chillin' after swimming!

Happy 1/2 Birthday Little Man!

Colton is 6 months old! I cannot believe it! He is growing and changing every day! He brings so much joy and happiness to our lives.

Left: Colton just minutes after he was born.
7lbs 1 oz
20 inches
Right: Colton at 6 months.
17.2 lbs
26.5 inches

What he has been up to...
*shaking his head "no"...he doesn't know what it means but he thinks it's funny
*on the verge of crawling...rocks back and forth while on his hands and knees
*scoots/army crawls where ever he wants to go...especially to get to Remy
*splashing in the bathtub...trying to get this on video but he just looks as the camera and smiles when I get it out.
*making a "cheesy" grin
*enjoying solid foods...he has tried almost all the 1st stage foods...so far so good except for squash.
*surviving on little to no naps...boo! I don't know where my napping boy went but I would like to find him!
*LOVES Remy...squeals when he sees her and will look for her when I ask him "where is Remy?" (I think Remy is pretty fond of him too...she likes to be right where he is when he is playing.)
*motorboat noises...minus the spit...a little different from "blowing raspberries".
*sleeping on his tummy...i still put him to bed on his back but when i check on him he is on his tummy with his booty in the air.

Colton's first crawfish boil!
It was a little windy that day...sorry for my crazy hair!
Colton's "cheesy grin"

I know the next 6 months will fly by...we are trying to take in every moment with him and not miss a single milestone. I never knew I could love someone so much...we are proud to be his Mommy and Daddy.

Thank you Lord for this precious gift!

Easter 2010

This year Easter was a lot more eventful than the first two years of our marriage. Colton helped make this holiday extra special.

Friday night...Brad and I went to the Cross Service at church while Colton stayed with Mimi and Papaw. Our pastor actually built a cross much like the one Jesus was crucified on and gave a very powerful message. It was a great reminder of what Christ sacrificed for us and the hope that we have because of Him. It was a great start to the weekend.

Saturday...we met up with Brent, Rachel and Eli at the Stockyards in hopes of seeing the Easter Bunny and getting some good pics of the boys. Yes, the Easter Bunny was there...one word...creepy! Colton wasn't afraid of her so we did capture that moment. He just stared at her and tried to grab her ears while Daddy held him for the pic. We took lots of pics of the boys in the beautiful green grass and next to some pretty flowers. They also had some baby animals there but the boys weren't too impressed. Colton loves being outside and he was squealing and "talking" the whole time. He was such a trooper! The weather was perfect!

Sunday...we went to Sunday school and worship before heading to Mimi and Papaw's house for lunch. Colton got to open his Easter baskets. Wow! The Easter Bunny came to Mimi and Papaw's house too! We played and visited with family. No Easter egg hunting this year but it was a great day!

Trying to get both boys to look at the camera much less smile at the same time is nearly impossible. Aren't they so cute?!? We have a lot to be thankful for. The Lord has blessed us in so many ways. Looking forward to many more memories made with our little man!

The Best Thing I Ever Ate!

First Day of Rice Cereal

Colton is really enjoying his first taste of solid foods. We started with rice cereal and after a month we are slowly adding new fruits and veggies to the menu. His favorite so far is applesauce. I made some sweet potatoes the other day and had an extra one so I baked it and pureed it with some water to make it a smooth consistency for him. He wasn't too sure about it at first but ate it none the less. He has also tried peaches, avocado and prunes. So far so good! He is getting really good at eating out of a spoon and we are getting more in his mouth than on the bib...success!

A happy boy with a full tummy!

We are trying to experiment with different foods so he will like a variety of flavors. I am making some of his baby food...so far it's really easy. On the menu this week...squash!

I'll Give You Something To Smile About

Colton is a morning person and I am learning to be one. We love our mornings together! After his morning feeding we sit and "talk" about our day. He is so smiley!
He is changing so fast. At five weeks he is now smiling and cooing on purpose. He really responds to me when we "talk". He is also holding up his head and getting so strong! I am beginning to see a routine...his routine. He likes to eat..."talk" and play...then nap until the next feeding. I am learning his cues and cries...so neat!
